Mobile phones have increasing display resolutions and besides standard analog TV-out ports they sometimes have an HDMI connector as well, which lets us view media on the phone in HD quality, but currently there is no such phone on the market that could play these files back. Renesas has announced a 6.4 x 6.5 mm chip last year, which can decode and compress H.264 1080p HD materials at 30 fps and it also supports AAC and Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, but shipment of the chip has started only now. The power consumption of SH7370 SiP (System-in-Package), which has meanwhile received WLAN and SD interfaces as well, is not yet knwon.
