In the first quarter, that closed on March 31, LG managed to further strengthen its presence on the mobile market. The company has 3346 million USD of income in the first three months, which is a 35.7% increase compared to the same period last year. LG sold 24.4 million mobile phones during these three months, thus making the company the fifth largest cell phone manufacturer in the world, straight after Nokia, Samsung, Motorola and Sony Ericsson. 36% of the total sales are from the Asian and Middle-East markets, while 18% is from the constantly increasing American and Korean market. The results are boosted primarily because of premium touchscreen and the new "Black Label" devices, the demand for which is expected to rise another 20% during the next quarter.
