There is an increased race in practically all segments of the mobile phone market. Today even the cheapest phones have a color TFT display and sometimes even a megapixel camera, while the most expensive ones features an 8 megapixel camera and WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) display. Ericsson thinks that this continuous evolution will continue in the coming years, and in four years high-end phones might have 12-20 megapixel cameras, which can record 1920 x 1080 pixels large (Full HD) videos. Of course fast evolution is expected for the displays as well. By 2012 1024 x 768 pixels large displays will surely be available, just like 1 GHz CPUs and LTE internet connections with over 100 megabit speed. The only question is how will the battery industry keep up with these advanced technologies.
