Philips announced at Mobile World Congress its special model, the Xenium 9@9j, which can use AAA batteries as a power source. The handset has a 750 mAh built-in Li-ion battery, which provides 8 hours of talk time, but this can be increased, up to 11 hours, with the help of an AAA battery. The device has Smartcavity battery-recognition technology, so it can detect AAA rechargeable batteries and charges only those, not the standard alkaline ones. The phone with a 176 x 220 display, 1.3 megapixel camera, FM radio, stereo Bluetooth support and a size of 110 x 45 x 11 mm, is expected to be available in April. No price has been announced yet.
