China Telecom has assigned Huawei to built the first 40G WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) data transfer network between Shanghai and Wuxi. The agreement includes that Huawei will offer 40G transfer solutions on eighty wavelengths, which, thanks to its hybrid 10G/40G data transfer capabilities, will be able to satisfy the ever increasing internet bandwith demands of China Telecom. Thanks to the SuperDRZ technology, patented by Huawei, data transfer is possible at distances of even 1500 kilometers in length, without a need for any kind of repeater device. China Telecom, having six hundred million subscribers, doesn't yet have HSDPA services, but they can still supply its customers only thanks to their quite powerful backbone network.
