The Finnish manufacturer has announced it last year that they won't be developing any more models for the Japanese market, that has a very low profit rate. After getting out of the country the company's affiliate, makers of incredibly expensive luxury phones, Vertu has reported that they are opening their first luxury phone store in Japan, in Tokyo's Ginza district, where they will offer mobile services on the virtual Vertu Club network, besides the 3G handsets that cost around ten thousand euros. The demand for the phones made by expert jewelers probably won't drop, even in spite of the recession. At least Vertu hopes this, as keeping up such a monumental shop in the most expensive district of the city is no cheap deal.
