The patent war between Nokia and Qualcomm, that caused a great amount of sensation, is finally over. Nokia and Qualcomm have reported that they have a new agreement regarding the sharing of GSM, EDGE, CDMA, WCDMA, HSDPA, OFDM, WiMAX, LTE and other technologies and this also means that Nokia has cancelled their lawsuits against Qualcomm at the European Comission. As per the 15-year agreement Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks will licence Qualcomm solutions and won't be using their patents directly against Qualcomm. The Finnish manufacturer will also provide Qualcomm a possibility of embedding their solutions in Qualcomm chips. As another consequence Nokia will pass on some of their WCDMA, GSM and FDMA patents to Qualcomm, but details regarding this part are currently confidential.
