    Just to add, Tom's Hardware has an interesting chart from MSI that is based upon 30 7700k CPUs to try and trend between the best and the worst:

    And in Tom's comparison with their counterparts that is working well that one consumes less power, although their chart suggests it has higher VCore (so seems Tom's Euro 7700k has a great envelope in terms of Vcore but not power consumption as this is similar trend with their comparison to the 6700K albeit the US Kaby Lake power demand figures are pretty dramatic in being better).
    Now if I remember wasn't there an issue with Kaby Lake that some motherboards were impacting the performance of the CPU in terms of voltage-power draw and came back to requiring updated firmware?
    Not suggesting this is a direct causal link in this case, but indicator that maybe some motherboard manufacturers are more mature in terms with their work with Kaby Lake.
